Abstract
This article explores the figure of the bestselling author in two short stories by contemporary Argentinian writer Claudia Piñeiro. Using the masculine concept of the ‘escritor de envergadura’ as a starting point, it analyses the protagonists of ‘La muerte y la canoa’ and ‘Bendito aire de Buenos Aires’ – both published in Quién no (Buenos Aires: Alfaguara, 2018) – to draw conclusions about Piñeiro’s critique of the gendered world of the publishing industry.
