Abstract

Indirect evidence for amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) between two pairs of ion-pair states of I-2, namely E0(g)(+)(P-3(2))/D0(u)(+)(P-3(2)) and gamma 1(u)(P-3(2))/beta 1(g)(P-3(2)) has been obtained. Direct E0(g)(+) (P-3(2)) -> B0(u)(+) and beta 1(g)(P-3(2))-> A1(u) ASE has also been observed based on the narrowed time profile of the fluorescence, the latter as a secondary process following gamma 1(u)(P-3(2)) -> beta 1(g)(P-3(2)) ASE.
