Face of dissent

Abstract

A series of 8 modelled clay heads produced for an exhibition entitled 'Re-see it'. The heads were based on newspaper reportage of individuals taking part in political demonstrations from around the globe. They were first modelled in clay and then painted using CMYK ink to reproduce the colour palette of the original image. The piece includes an array of different portraits and attempts to reflect the extent of political unrest in 2015.
Re-see it was an exhibition organised as part of a wider schedule of events under the umbrella of ArtCOP Scotland which was timetable to coincide with the Paris Climate Summit in December 2015. This was a creative response to the issues of climate change and was part of a schedule of public talks and debates held in Gayfield Creative spaces.
