Feeling connected, feeling safe: Working with care experienced young people

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract / Description of output

Creating safety is a core pillar of trauma informed practice. In this invited lecture for the STAF National Conference Dr Autumn Roesch-Marsh explored the meaning of safety from different disciplinary perspectives in order to think together with conference participants about how they might enhance feelings of safety among the care experienced people they work with. She explored this using an ecological approach, focusing in on the role of friends and social connections in creating a sense of safety and belonging. She explored how we work alongside people to help them feel a sense of ownership in building a sense of safety in their lives and the important role friends can play in this process.
