Abstract

The ๐ต+โ†’๐ท+๐‘ โข๐ทโˆ’๐‘ โข๐พ+ decay is observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9โ€‰โ€‰fbโˆ’1. Its branching fraction relative to that of the ๐ต+โ†’๐ท+โข๐ทโˆ’โข๐พ+ decay is measured to be โ„ฌโก(๐ต+โ†’๐ท+๐‘ โข๐ทโˆ’๐‘ โข๐พ+)โ„ฌโก(๐ต+โ†’๐ท+โข๐ทโˆ’โข๐พ+)=0.525ยฑ0.033ยฑ0.027ยฑ0.034, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the ๐ทยฑ๐‘ โ†’๐พโˆ“โข๐พยฑโข๐œ‹ยฑ and ๐ทยฑโ†’๐พโˆ“โข๐œ‹ยฑโข๐œ‹ยฑ decays. This measurement fills an experimental gap in the knowledge of the family of Cabibbo-favored
ยฏ๐‘โ†’ยฏ๐‘โข๐‘โขยฏ๐‘  transitions and opens the path for unique studies of spectroscopy in future.
