Abstract
The study of the pattern of solids flow out of a silo is an important area of silos research. Much of the research undertaken so far has been concerned with axisymmetric mass flow silos and hoppers. Such flow pattern measure ments are of lesser interest now since mass flow is reasonably well under stood. However, many industrial silos do not exhibit mass flow and a significant number discharge eccentrically. There is a need to study the much more complex flow patterns which arise from these more realistic silo configurations.
