Abstract

Richard Lorch commissioned a cover illustration on the theme of 'Overheating in Buildings: Adaption Responses' Wood engraving, four-colour, 150 x 100mm.

This is a pertinent theme, given issues about excess temperatures in Evolution House, which have been difficult to moderate over a number of years in an environment for learning & teaching.

Themes to be expressed:
Meta-analysis of indoor temperatures in new-build housing. Overheating in vulnerable and non-vulnerable households. Overheating in retrofitted flats: occupant practices, learning and interventions. Overheating in care settings: magnitude, causes, preparedness and remedies. Overheating in Scotland: contributing factors in occupied homes. Overheating in Auckland homes: testing and interventions in full-scale and simulated houses. Comfort-related feedfoward information: occupants choice of cooling strategy and perceived comfort. Inhabitant actions and summer overheating risk in London dwellings. Overheating in English dwellings: comparing modelled and monitored large-scale datasets. Thermal comfort and heat stress: demonstrating exposure duration assessments. Combating overheating: mixed mode conditioning for workplace comfort.
