Abstract

The article looks into the challenges, strategies and contradictions of the Scottish Gaelic language in contemporary Scotland. The author provides an overview about the historical and demographic background of the Gaelic language. He tackles the decline in the number of the language's speaker and the efforts, such as implementing policies, to sustain and promote the language.
