Abstract

This chapter is part of a book that compares and contrasts developments in relation to safeguarding and child protection policy in the UK. This chapter describes the development of the modern child protection system in Scotland from 1960s, with the main focus from 2000 during which Scotland underwent unprecedented change, including the introduction of a three year Child Protection Reform Programme.
