Abstract / Description of output
Gift 2012 Kate Davis & David Moore
Gift is a performed work that takes place during the private view of an exhibition or at an event. It was originally conceived for a one day exhibition at The Forgotten Bar in Berlin and has since been shown in London. It relies both on the artists and the audience to activate the work. The full beer bottles are configured to spell out the word Gift which is a word that can be understood in both German and English but has different meanings. The audience are invited to take a bottle of beer once they have deciphered the word and then have to replace the empty bottle exactly in its original place so that the artwork always remains in tact. The bottle opener is controlled by the artists to force an interaction between the viewer and makers which is at the core of this work.
