Abstract
We present an achromatic confocal laser scanning system capable of fully spectral fluorescence lifetime images at world leading rates (>8 frames per second for a 128x128 image). Imaging is diffraction limited and the Field of View can be changed on the fly. The imaging system includes a single photon avalanche diode line array which generates lifetime histograms on-chip with up to 32 lifetime bins and 512 spectral bins. This sensor can process over 16.5 Giga events/s enabling the system to reach extremely fast spectral lifetime data acquisition, in contrast to the traditional time-correlated single photon counting method.
