abstract = "Since the 1950{\textquoteright}s, academic research on the rock-cut tomb art of Neolithic Sardinia has essentially focussed on the content of the art (typological classification) and its chronology (chrono-stylistic periodization). This article proposes to address the spatial context of the art by examining patterns in the position of the motifs on architectural supports (walls, doorways, pillars, ceilings) as well as their distribution within the complex design of the tombs. The empirical data resulting from this analysis give the occasion for a critical review of the current approach to Sardinian tomb art and invite to rethink the theoretical and conceptual framework of this particular field.",
