Abstract / Description of output

This paper investigated the potential benefits of using aerospace design methodologies in the new forms of lightweight dwelling construction which have received growing attention in recent years. The structural efficiency of new types of shear wall panels of various plan-form geometries are investigated, along with comparisons with the more usual rectangular type. The paper also discusses the likely benefits to the construction industry of adopting panels of this type when used in combination with recent developments in cold pressing and press-joining.
