Abstract
This book describes an ongoing campaign of anti-racist action staged by a small group of scholars and students from diverse fields. The chapters are written by a collection of academics at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh who are at various stages of their careers and from a range of different fields, including media, communication and performing arts; health sciences; psychology and sociology; education; and global health and development. Each chapter describes a journey towards anti-racist teaching and activism. These stories are about the writers’ own experiences of racism and how this translated into action –their own growing understanding of the impact of racism and their subsequent decision to take personal or professional action. Importantly, each chapter not only acts as a case study, grounded in relevant theory, but also shares with the reader a suggested platform of individual action that can be taken by anyone who is willing to make a start at being an anti-racist educator. Each chapter includes a few reflective questions and recommended readings.
