Abstract / Description of output

In the introduction to the edited volume, Moore and Altehenger outline how 'Maoism' came to be known as an ideology during the Cold War, a short history of foreign scholars examining the early PRC, and how the volume features archivally-driven research on Chinese history during the period 1949 to 1966. The introduction explains how the concept of 'making' is important for understanding Chinese socialism in its earliest phase.
