Invited Seminar - Introduction to Electronic Displays

Aim.
This seminar provides a broad overview of the field of “Electronic Displays” at an introductory level using mainly qualitative, descriptive and comparative explanations.

Attendees.
The seminar will be of interest to students, researchers and engineering staff who have recently entered the electronic display sector, first time attendees at ICDT, non-technical staff in the displays industry. For technologists who already have deep specialist knowledge it will provide broad contextual perspective.

Terminology, brief history, evolution and classification of electronic displays. Main performance criteria and specifications. Review of dominant and emerging technologies. Display systems and applications including AR and VR. Practical issues and user interaction including touch screens. Future prospects for displays.
