Abstract
IRON: Translating Territories was shown at the Royal Scottish Academy. The exhibition re-examined iron's multiple facets and roles within and out-with art, and used creative routes and practices to map unfamiliar territories and potentialities through art practice. It sought also to unveil diverse perspectives and understandings of the physical world around us and explore deeper creative potential and complexity in this singular material. A documentary film with commissioned texts and interviews was produced to accompany the exhibition. This drew together and examined the different artistic approaches and artworks produced for the exhibition. The exhibition included invited artists from Poland, (Michał Staszczack, Paweł Czekański) and Edinburgh based Romanian artist Oana Stanciu and two Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh, alumnae Rachel Nolan and Clare Flatley.
