Abstract

The article discusses Ivan Bunin's 1937 book about Tolstoy. It focuses on Bunin's interest in Tolstoy's inner conflict between the spiritual and the sensual aspects of Tolstoy's personality. It is argued that this book contains some autobiographical traits and reveals Bunin's own strategies of self-representation.
