Abstract

The design of a Jaumann-like reconfigurable rasorber is presented with wideband absorption and angularly stability. The rasorber is defined by a three-layer structure with two resistive layers composed of a Jerusalem cross surrounded by a square ring and tapered dipole arms loaded with resistors, whilst the lossless layer is composed of four small square ring slots. All three layers can tune their passband in the range from 4.4GHz to 6.9GHz using varactors biased by polarisation insensitive DC lines. Also, the three-layered structure has a small periodicity to provide angular stability up to 30° while also maintaining low insertion losses below 1.5dB.
