Abstract / Description of output
Through this ethnography of aging, Kavedžija significantly contributes to literature on existential anthropology, wellbeing, civil society and activism, changes in the family system, elderly care and independent living in contemporary Japan. Kavedžija’s fresh approach goes beyond common narratives of aging and decline, and offers a valuable insight into how fortunate elderly who could maintain some degree of independence are actively making their lives more than meaningful.
