Abstract

Currently, the use of laparoscopic surgery of the pancreas in companion animal patients is not common practice. In human medicine, however, it has already been demonstrated that laparoscopic pancreatic surgery has clear advantages over the open approach. This chapter describes the surgical anatomy of the pancreas, indications, approaches, and surgical technique of laparoscopic pancreatic surgery in small animals. Classic ventral midline, left-sided, and right-sided flank approaches are illustrated.
