Abstract

This chapter provides a state-of-the-art review of areas of research and practice in legal English (LE) in the areas of forensic linguistics, language and law, and translation studies, considering the maintained impact of the common law origins of LE before describing some specific LE research and practice developments of particular interest to the English for specific purposes (ESP) practitioner community. Implications for practice follow and the chapter concludes with a consideration of future directions for LE research and practice.
