Abstract / Description of output

Living in the Trees is a site-specific installation of 34 paintings that illustrate invented tree houses. The architecture in each is a mixture of real and invented influences but the overall idea is to create a sense of individual believable narratives into which the viewer could enter.
The work was commissioned by Round Table Projects and Tonic Arts and installed in the Edinburgh Haematology Centre (in the Western General Hospital Edinburgh) to provide respite and escapism for both staff and patients there and was designed and fabricated after discussions with patients that had been attending the centre for some time.
