Abstract
The essay discusses the dynamics of disappearance and urban stylistic revisions in the city. It considers the fate of the 1960s neon signs and “socialist modernity” as indicative of the attitudes towards the ordinary urban spaces, the contemporary street as an aesthetic experience, and the strategies of ideological privileging specific urban heritage.
