abstract = "The Incheon Asian Games in 2014 is arguably the most controversial sporting event that South Korea has ever hosted. The preparation and delivery of the two weeks of sporting competition left a huge economic deficit, and the newly built Asian Games stadium is hardly used in the post-event period. Incheon{\textquoteright}s international sport development programme, the Vision 2014, creates an additional financial burden. The opening and closing ceremonies mainly showed Korean pop culture performances and they did not sufficiently represent Incheon{\textquoteright}s historical tradition. This mismanagement triggers sports mega event scepticism in South Korea. The true legacy of the Asian Games is, therefore, debunking the myth of sport mega-event driven development.",
