Modelling transshipment decision in retail networks

Research output: Contribution to conferenceAbstractpeer-review

Abstract

Transshipments of items between stores are used to manage shortages of inventory in retail networks. Transshipments can be organised in response to shortages (reactive) or in anticipation of possible shortages (proactive). With a few exceptions, existing research in the area considers either reactive or proactive transshipment. This paper considers both types of transshipment in a single model and discusses the practical application of such an approach.
