Abstract

Many hands have supported and shaped Catalyst Arts since 1993, with over 100 co-directors and 1000 artists having worked / lived / experienced / been a part of the journey. From small gestures of driving, to helicopter journeys, busses, skips, and boats, Catalyst Arts has and continues to influence the visual landscapes we work inside and around.

‘Mother of pearl’ publication collects the musings, scribbles, scratches, images, memories, maps, poems, and prose of 21 directors of Catalyst Arts (both past and current), alongside 9 archival images and ephemera; 30 pages skimming & waxing lyrical across love and marriage, dogs, fires, grief, red wine and cigarettes, bodily time-spaces, topless sunbathing, home, infamy, crying, blood, and ladders. A shocking lack of mentions of art - but there’s always art, apparently.
