Abstract

This book captures the life stories, lessons learned, achievements, and struggles of 14 women leaders who survived the 3rd of June 2018 eruption of Volcan de Fuego, Guatemala. It shows how the eruption marked their trajectories of leadership and tells these stories through their own voices. It is the result of a participatory research process, through which the fourteen women leaders shared their knowledge and experiences. The book is an output of the project ‘Ixchel: building understanding of the physical, cultural and socio-economic drivers of risk in the Guatemalan cordillera’ (2020-2025), funded by the United Kingdom Research Council (UKRI GCRF).
