Abstract
This chapter examines the participation of Muslims within the Global Justice Movement. While much attention has focused on progressive Christian groups in the movement and the influence of Liberation Theology in Latin America, the participation of Muslims has been ignored. The chapter firstly explores some of the theological justifications offered by Muslims for their participation in this movement and the role of public intellectuals in this process. The development of social forums in Muslim majority countries is then discussed as well as the participation of Muslims in the European Social Forums. The final section examines the controversy within the ATTAC organisation in France regarding the participation of Muslims in 'le mouvement altermondialiste'.
