Abstract / Description of output
Using a proton-proton collision data sample collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.5ββfbβ1, the observation of a new excited Ξ0π resonance decaying to the Ξβπβ’π+ final state is presented. The state, referred to as Ξπβ’(6227)0, has a measured mass and natural width of mβ‘(Ξπβ’(6227)0)=6227.1+1.4β1.5Β±0.5ββMeV and Ξβ‘(Ξπβ’(6227)0)=18.6+5.0
β4.1Β±1.4ββMeV, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The production rate of the Ξπβ’(6227)0 state relative to that of the Ξβπ baryon in the kinematic region 2<π<5 and πT<30ββGeV is measured to be πΞπβ’(6227)0πΞβπ
β’β¬β‘(Ξπβ’(6227)0βΞβπβ’π+)=0.045Β±0.008Β±0.004, where β¬β‘(Ξπβ’(6227)0βΞβπβ’π+) is the branching fraction of the decay, and πΞπβ’(6227)0 and πΞβπ represent fragmentation fractions. Improved measurements of the mass and natural width of the previously observed Ξπβ’(6227)β state, along with the mass of the Ξβ
π baryon, are also reported. Both measurements are significantly more precise than, and consistent with, previously reported values.
