Abstract

This chapter provides a general overview of the EU-Korea FTA. The chapter begins by giving a brief drafting history of the instrument, as well as explaining the expected economic benefits of the agreement for both parties. It then outlines the scope of the FTA, paying particular attention to the dispute settlement procedures in Chapter 14 of the FTA. This chapter is intended to provide background material for the more detailed discussion of specific aspects of the FTA in Part 2 of the book.
