Abstract

Papers and presentation material pertaining to metadata, associated with the visit by Peter Burnhill at Statistics Canada, September 1989. The objectives of the visit included the following:
- to draw attention to the important role that data libraries play in the dissemination of information;
- to sensitise the staff of Statistics Canada to the importance of metadata in the dissemination process and identify issues that must be dealt with in the development of metadata information systems;
- to provide advice and opinions to a group in Statistics Canada regarding their plan to develop a 'Meta Data information system'.
