Abstract / Description of output

Design of an automatic flight control system is a challenging problem which has become an integral part of the modern aircraft design procedure. This paper discusses the pitch attitude control of an aircraft using Linear Quadratic Integral (LQI) control scheme. A detailed discussion on the longitudinal model of the aircraft is carried out. The designed LQI controller performance is evaluated on the time response characteristics of the system and a comparison study with conventional PID control strategy is presented. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
