Plan as deployment and proliferation

Abstract

This paper describes a conceptual framework -based upon the notions of Field, Event and Alloy- as a tool for reflecting on the opportunities derived from incorporating a fluent, continuous temporal dimension as a key element within the design process. This temporal dimension is understood as the driving force of certain organizational procedures, oriented towards the production of spatial systems in a perpetual state of dynamic transformation. In order to leverage the understanding of these ideas, this paper describes three examples (differing in their scales and formal filiations) as instances of this methodological approach to dynamic processes as generative mechanisms inserted into the design process.
