Abstract / Description of output

In this paper we present a pressure and flow-balanced microfluidic serial diluter for biochemical assay applications. A modular microfluidic network performing stepwise dilution has been simulated, optimized and prototyped. Subsequently a 2-stage serial dilution network, comprising two unit cells, was prototyped and verified by measuring the glucose concentration of the generated diluted samples. The proposed design minimizes the flow source apparatus requirements, operating with only one flow source (either pressure or flowrate), while tolerating source instabilities. Hence, the presented design is a competitive candidate for Point-Of-Care (POC) diagnostics applications.
