Abstract

Preoperative investigation and treatment of anaemia is recommended before orthopaedic surgery. We measured the prevalence of anaemia among admissions presenting for elective major joint arthroplasty (MJA), assessed their transfusion requirements, and investigated factors associated with perioperative blood transfusion.
