Re-created Pictish drinking horn mount

Research output: Non-textual formArtefact

I worked in collaboration with Archaeologists at the National Museum of Scotland to recreate a silver Pictish end-piece for a Drinking Horn. There were records of this object in written text and depictions in stone carvings but the object itself has never been found. An exhibition was opened as a ‘Work in Progress’ and the public were invited to follow the process of making as it happened until the object was completed and exhibited. Existing objects in the NMS collection are being reassessed due to the new knowledge acquired through the collaboration which has given fresh insights into how these objects were made, experienced and used.
