Abstract

This volume is the first volume of a three-volume set, giving readers the opportunity to get in touch with the Reformed ethics taught by Bavink to students at Theological School in Kampen from 1883/1884 to the fall of 1902 Course. Although this work is identical in method to Bavink's four-volume masterpiece "Reformed Religious Philosophy," and there are signs that Bavink may intend to publish this work eventually, he did not do so, only leaving 1100 page manuscript. The manuscript left by Bavink remained in dust after his death in 1921, and was not discovered and valued by scholars until 2008. There is no doubt that the publication of this work has greatly promoted the research of Bavink worldwide. This allows scholars to have a better and comprehensive understanding of Bavink's thoughts.

This Chinese version combines the advantages of the original Dutch version and the English version. On the basis of the English translation, the editor proofreads the translation based on the original Dutch version, corrected more than 150 translation errors or inaccuracies in the English translation, and added 126 annotations based on the Dutch version. However, the Chinese translation all adopts the content of the scriptures added in the English translation, which is convenient for readers to read. In addition, some translated names have also been selected to conform to the essence of Christian ecumenism advocated by Bavink.
