Abstract / Description of output

The waveform relaxation (WR) method affords a means of using parallel computers in the numerical solution of systems of differential equations (DEs). The method has been successfully applied to problems in VLSI circuit simulation and to solve PDEs semidiscretized by the method of lines. In this paper, it is shown how the method can be applied to solve descriptor systems (differential-algebraic equations) for constrained mechanical motion. Some recent developments in the convergence theory are discussed and illustrated by examples and simple numerical experiments.
