Remodelling Home: a strategy for public engagement at Scotland's housing expo.
Alex Milton, Ewan Winton, Edward Hollis,
joint authored book,
I have contributed several writings to the Design Transformation's 'Claystation' project for some time, and this is the latest in this contribution.
Remodelling Home originated in an exhibition at Scotland's Housing Expo near Inverness in 2009 which used the innovative Claystation participatory design strategy to engage with public imaginations and aspirations for housing in Scotland. I contributed to the exhibition catalogue, and when the exhibition itself was remounted at thge Lighthouse in GLasgow in 2010 I also contributed to the output descrbed here. Later, we also presented a paper at the 5th International conference on Design Principles and Practices at the Sapienza in Rome 2010., which was subsequently accepted for publication in the resulting proceedings.
My contribution to this exercise was to use experience in the construction of spaital narratives and building stories to reflect on 'home' as a protean and changeable idea and artefact, a project which leads into my own explorations of the interior in 'The Memory Palace' series of papers and writings.
