Screening Solvent Effects in Anion Recognition

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

In this issue of Chem, Flood and co-workers examine solvent effects on chloride anion binding within a neutral macrocyclic host.1 An inverse relationship between the complexation energies and the dielectric constants of aprotic solvents was found, revealing the limit at which electrostatic interactions are no longer the dominant contributors to binding.
