Abstract / Description of output

The paper focuses on two emerging networks of sharing economy, the Trapeza Chronou time bank and the KOI.NO alternative currency in Thessaloniki, Greece. Both initiatives utilise open source ICTs to facilitate urban economic networking as means for enhancing local resilience, social inclusion and community self-management. Based on interviews with network members and participant observation, the paper discusses the socio-economic and technical characteristic, functioning and governance of these networks and evaluates their potential as pathways to radical socio-economic change.
