Abstract

Story advisor on the edit of "Stronger than a Bullet" 2017 by Maryam Ebrahimi. This was originally called "The Confiscated Images" and I gave input into the original development documents too.

Maryam Ebrahimi's documentary is based on the story of the Iranian photographer Saeed Sadeghi, whose work was incredibly influential during the Iranian wars with Iraq, encouraging young men to fight what Saeed saw as a Holy War. Now he looks back and realises how his images contributed to the revolutionary fervour of the time and were used as propaganda by the govt.
A fascinating exploration of what it is to believe in a violent ideology, the film is a brace and original analysis of how to come to terms with the fanatical beliefs this photographer had and how images can be so influential.
