Abstract
This review examines recent evidence for an association between substance abuse and criminality, and the probable synergistic role of additional mental disorders in aggression. Possible shared origins of substance abuse and crime are discussed, such as the serotonergic system and delinquency. Issues in assessment and treatment are presented, including feasible clinical outcomes of current or future research.
