title = "Synoptic Gospels",
abstract = "This chapter discusses ecological interpretation of the Synoptic Gospels. It is noted that, in spite of the importance of Jesus{\textquoteright} teaching in the Gospels for Christian ethical thought, this teaching plays a relatively low profile in ecotheology. The role of the kingdom of God in Jesus{\textquoteright} teaching is examined, especially its potential for ecotheology. The kingdom{\textquoteright}s apocalyptic worldview, however, is a sticking point. Looking at some of the hermeneutical options, along with a survey of the main Synoptic texts, the chapter suggests a way forward.",
