Abstract

Modality: hybrid – face-to-face and online

Short Abstract:
This hybrid lab invites participants to test the beta version of the Ripple Framework (https://ripple.designinformatics.org/), a tool designed to provide social care stakeholders with generative methods for the creative exploration of alternative futures.

Long Abstract:

The global care sector is confronting complex challenges including workforce shortages, an aging population, and increasing care delivery demands across diverse environments. To try and facilitate high levels of enaggement with stakeholders in ehtnographic and co-design work, the Healthier Working Lives (HWL) project developed the Ripple Framework (RF), a generative and flexible methodological approach including ethnographic walkarounds and a range of co-design activities.

While the RF shows promise in addressing local healthcare challenges, its usability and wider global applicability require validation. To this end, we invite lab participants to use the Framework and help us meet our objectives to:

1. test the usability of the beta version of the tool
2. explore the applicability of the RF for other social design contexts

The lab will accommodate up to 20 participants in person and a further 20 online, with pre-registration required to ensure a balanced representation of local and global perspectives. The interactive format is designed to be inclusive and engaging, leveraging digital tools for a hybrid experience online and in-person. We anticipate participation through social design leads in Barcelona, researchers in Australia, and our project partners in Scotland.
