Abstract / Description of output
This essay shows that the document about the law of hybris inserted into the text of Demosth., In Mid. XXI.47 is a forgery. The document lies outside the stichometry, which shows that it is a later insertion. The document also contains several errors about Athenian law and legal procedures and several expressions are not consistent with the language found in contemporary documents. The evidence against the document’s authenticity is overwhelming.
