Abstract

The article discusses the 1799 avalanche disaster in the Gaick Pass in Scotland, focusing on eye witness accounts of the event to learn about the conditions and aftermath. Other topics include a description of the storms in the Gaick, the death of several members of a hunting party organized by Captain John MacPherson, and the search for survivors after the avalanche occurred.
