Abstract

Although allergy represents an important cause of patient morbidity and healthcareutilisation, there is little reliable information on the overall disease burden posed by allergicconditions. However, recently the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology(BSACI) commissioned a UK study to determine the prevalence of allergic conditions(excluding occupational allergy), to estimate the healthcare burden posed by these patients,and to assess recent disease trends in the UK population
