Abstract / Description of output

An account of the human cost and geographical extent of a famine which struck Scotland in the 1620s. Examining the causes, both actual and perceived, and offering an assessment of the response from both central and local government. A conservative estimate of the death toll is given, suggesting this famine was equally as severe as the better documented 1690s crisis.
